Ive always been a fairly independent person. I dont mind going out eat alone or going museums by myself, but it recently occurred to me that Ive never gone to a movie solo. Today, I made it my mission.
I was going to run in the morning, but my body is still really sore from the physical labor I performed yesterday, so I cut myself some slack and opted for a nice, leisurely breakfast instead.
Coffee, soy sausage and egg scramble (1 egg, green pepper and black olives) taco with a side of siracha for dipping. Everything is better with siracha!
Several hours of doggy dress up writing later it was time for lunch. (S0rry folks, has been walking around in his muscle shirt all day. Hes keeps muttering something about wanting to showoff the guns)
Since it was rainy and cold out, soup was calling my name. Lunch was an oldie, but a goody. Grilled cheese and tomato soup.
After lunch I decided to take a break and took it as an opportunity to head to the theatre for a solo viewing of SATC 2. Grandma likes her discounts, so a matinée was a must. I pulled up to the theatre, shuffled my orthopedic shoes inside and ignored the snarky look from the teenage cashier as I requested my ticket for one. Maybe it was snark, maybe it was pity, either way I did not appreciate it!
As I surveyed my surroundings I noticed, to my horror, that much like my early morning grocery shopping experience last week, only old people and delinquents go to the movies in the middle of the day. Again, I refuse to admit that I belong to either of those groups. Seriously though, 40-year-old creepy dude who was sitting in the arcade, you dont have anything better to do with your time? Really?
2.5 hours, several handfuls of Sour Patch Kids and a serious sugar high later I left the theatre and realized why you go to the movies with other people to talk about how awful the film was!
Honestly, I didnt think it was awful, but it wasnt great. Plus, Grandma and Grandpa had an early afternoon out and talked as loud as they could throughout the entire film. Come on senior citizens, learn some manners!
Post film I met my mother-in-law for tea, which was much-needed to curb the nausea I felt from all the Sour Patch Kids.
After enjoying two cups of Maghreb Mint tea (and a sugar crash), I went home, threw together a quick stir fry and finished just in time to watch Modern Family.
It was a great day, snark and all. I will definitely be scheduling another solo movie viewing the near future. Perhaps to see those movie Im too embarrassed to admit I like!
